Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has urged Nigerians to pray earnestly for the safe return of the students and teachers who were recently abducted in Oyo State.
The appeal came from a statement issued by the organisation’s Oyo State chapter.
The statement, signed jointly by the chapter’s President, Okechukwu Nwabunike, and Executive Secretary, Promise Aja, was provided to DAILY POST on Sunday.
DAILY POST reports that about 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped in several communities within Oriire local government area of Oyo State.
Nwabunike condemned the abduction in its entirety in the statement.
A statement issued on behalf of other members of the organisation described the incident as not only tragic but also an assault on humanity and education in the affected communities.
They called on residents of the affected areas to cooperate with security agencies.
The group also appealed to all Nigerians to pray for the safe return of the victims.
“Calling on Nigerians to seek divine intervention and pray for the safe return of those still in captivity,” the statement read.
“We continue to pray for the safe return of these abductees and for the exposure and defeat of those behind this evil act.”
