Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe told journalists on Monday that Nigeria will soon see significant improvements in electricity supply and infrastructure.

He made the comments shortly after his swearing‑in ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tegbe said President Bola Tinubu has invested heavily in the power sector, and that the results are beginning to materialise.

He acknowledged that the sector still faces challenges but highlighted the extensive efforts the Tinubu administration has put into addressing them.

“People might not appreciate it now, but very soon they will,” he said.

“President Bola Tinubu has invested so much in the last three years in this sector. We are commissioning projects and ensuring that Nigerians receive the service they deserve,” Tegbe added.

He reminded the audience that he had not promised a “magic wand” or 24‑hour, seven‑day power during his Senate confirmation. “We will get there ultimately,” he said, but added that Nigerians can expect visible improvements and infrastructure upgrades.

“In the last four weeks, power supply has improved across Nigeria, thanks to the President’s push,” he noted.

The minister said that since his appointment, he has met with key stakeholders in the power sector, who have given commitments to advance the sector.

He said the ministry will work to ensure consistency and further improvements over the coming months.

“Nigerians should please bear with us. The president understands the challenges; we are addressing them in generation, transmission, and distribution,” Tegbe said.

“There are a couple of challenges; the sector has its peculiarities and we are going to fix these peculiarities,” he added.
