Police rescue woman in Katsina after attempted abduction

Katsina State Police Command said it rescued a young woman who was targeted in an attempted abduction by suspected bandits in the Kukoki community of Danmusa Local Government Area.

The information was released in a statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, on Thursday.

Aliyu explained that police in Danmusa received a distress call reporting that armed men believed to be bandits had entered Kukoki community and tried to abduct the woman.

He added that the command quickly dispatched a special patrol unit to the scene, which resulted in a gunfight between the officers and the suspects.

The statement said the officers pursued the suspects and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, compelling the bandits to abandon the victim and retreat while sustaining gunshot wounds.

Aliyu also said that police were continuing to pursue and arrest the suspects.
