Police refute viral video tied to Oyo school kidnapping.

The Nigeria Police have clarified that a viral video, which some have linked to the recent abduction of school children and teachers in Oyo State, is unrelated to the incident and is misleading.

The police issued the statement on the official page of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the statement, the footage did not originate in Nigeria and has no connection to the abduction that took place in Oyo State.

Police warned that the video is being circulated with false claims that could cause panic and spread misinformation among the public.

“This video is unrelated to the incident and is being used to spread misinformation and cause unnecessary panic,” the statement read.

The Force added that security agencies have stepped up rescue operations, deploying additional intelligence and operational resources to secure the safe return of the victims.

Police urged the public to rely on verified information and refrain from sharing unconfirmed or misleading content online.
