The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into the unexplained deaths of a woman, her four‑year‑old son, and a man known only as “Shanko,” whose bodies were found in Ijebu‑Igbo, Ogun State.

The incident took place on Wednesday in the Egbe Subair area of Ijebu‑Igbo, leaving local residents shocked and confused.

Witnesses say the woman and the man were discovered inside the toilet of their home, while the child’s body was found in one of the rooms.

Residents who visited the scene reported signs that a struggle may have occurred before the victims died, noting that parts of the toilet and other items in the house appeared damaged.

Although the exact cause of death remains unknown, some community members speculate that poisoning could have been involved.

Authorities have cautioned the public against jumping to conclusions until the investigation is complete.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Command, confirmed that detectives had launched a full‑scale inquiry to determine what happened.

“The Ogun State Police Command is investigating the tragic deaths,” Babaseyi said.

He added, “Investigation is ongoing, while the bodies have been deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary, Ijebu‑Igbo.”

The police spokesman urged residents to remain calm and allow investigators to conduct a thorough inquiry.

At the time of reporting, no arrests had been announced, and police officials said they were working to uncover the circumstances that led to the deaths of the three victims.

The incident continues to raise concern among residents, who are awaiting the outcome of the police investigation.
