Police investigate after man dies by suicide in Ogun.

A man named Obikoya Gbenga Adewale is reported to have taken his own life in Molode, a neighbourhood of Sabo in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The incident occurred on Saturday.

A video that circulated online shows the body, believed to belong to a man in his 40s, hanging from a roof outside a house.

Comments on the video claim that the man did not normally stay in the house but had come there to commit suicide.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the body has been removed and preserved for further examination.

Babaseyi added that an investigation has begun to determine the circumstances of the death.

He stated, “On Saturday, about 0840hrs, information was received that one Obikoya Gbenga Adewale (M), an adult male of Sabo Area, Ijebu Ode, was found dead in circumstances suspected to be suicide.”

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), accompanied by his team, visited the scene. Necessary documentation was carried out and photographs were taken in line with standard procedure.”

“The body was preserved for further examination, while investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.”

The police spokesperson urged residents to pay attention to their health, especially mental health.

Babaseyi reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and promoting community well‑being, and encouraged anyone who is concerned about a loved one to seek help early.
