Police operatives from the Ondo State Police Command have detained a person suspected of armed robbery in the Abusoro area of Akure South Local Government Area.
The individual, identified as Idowu Babayemi, was captured during a routine patrol carried out by officers in the Onimalu area of the state.
Command spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said that after spotting the suspect, officers conducted a search and recovered a locally manufactured pistol from his belongings.
Jimoh added that reliable intelligence received by the command, together with several weeks of surveillance, facilitated the arrest, and that the suspect will be formally charged after further investigation.
“The successful operation further demonstrates the command’s proactive and intelligence-driven policing strategy targeted at curbing armed robbery, illegal arms proliferation and other criminal activities across the state.
“The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operation for their vigilance, professionalism and dedication to duty.”
