Police find suspected drug warehouse and seize 425 bags of Canadian Loud in Lagos

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) responsible for Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force has uncovered a suspected drug‑storage site in the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos, and seized 425 bags of what is believed to be Canadian Loud, along with other items linked to a trafficking network.

The operation took place over the weekend at No. 10 Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street, Arowojobe Estate, Mende, Lagos.

Police identified the suspect as 41‑year‑old Eke Henry Ifeanyi, who allegedly used a three‑bedroom apartment within the compound as a warehouse for storing and distributing the banned substance both domestically and abroad.

Items recovered from the premises included two electric vehicles with forged presidential number plates marked NYCN 10 SE, a Leopard hybrid vehicle bearing the same forged registration, three Android phones, a Republic of Liberia residence permit card, two ATM cards, and an Emporio Armani wristwatch.

When journalists visited the location, residents said the suspect was not living in any of the apartments but used the premises strictly for business purposes.

Investigators said the suspect hid the illegal operation by storing hundreds of cartons of thermal paper rolls—commonly used by point‑of‑sale operators—inside the apartment.

Police sources noted that the suspect had initially evaded arrest during an earlier operation but was eventually taken into custody on May 19, 2026, after detectives tracked his movements.

Following his arrest, investigators said the suspect led detectives to the apartment allegedly used as the warehouse.

Further searches revealed that the living room was filled with cartons of thermal paper rolls, while one of the rooms contained bags suspected to be Canadian Loud.

A resident of the area expressed shock at the discovery, saying neighbors had no idea such activities were taking place within the compound.

Speaking about the operation, the AIG in charge of Zone 2, AIG Adegoke Jimoh, said the breakthrough was made possible through intelligence provided by a concerned resident.

He praised residents of Lagos and Ogun states for continually supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information capable of tackling the circulation of illegal substances.

“Following actionable intelligence received from a concerned and patriotic citizen about suspected drug trafficking operations being perpetrated by Eke Henry Ifeanyi, detectives attached to the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department, ZCID, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, started trailing and monitoring the activities of the suspect, an operation which lasted for some months,” Jimoh said.

“During the painstaking and thorough search operation, detectives uncovered bags containing substances suspected to be Canadian Loud stocked in one of the rooms. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect hid under the guise of selling thermal paper rolls used by POS machines to print receipts,” he added.
