Police in Kano State have detained TikTok personality Fati Cele after the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence. The incident is currently under investigation.

Fati Cele, a native of Borno State, lives in a rented apartment in the Danbare area of Kano and has more than 32,000 followers on TikTok.

A close associate of the deceased said that Cele left the house shouting that there was a fire, prompting neighbours to rush to the scene.

“When people entered the house, they found Isma’il with burn injuries and traces of blood on his body,” the source claimed, adding that he was rushed to Nassarawa Hospital in an attempt to save him.

The source further disclosed that officers from the Dorayi Babba Police Division took Cele into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Friends of the deceased and acquaintances of Cele told reporters in Kano that the couple had experienced relationship challenges in the past, had reportedly separated, and had recently reconciled.

Makaye, a cosmetics trader who lived in the Hotoro Tishama area of Kano, was later buried at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki after his remains were released for funeral rites, according to family associates.

Police authorities had not issued an official statement on the matter as of the time of this report.
