Police Deploy Tear Gas on Protesters and Journalists in Abuja, June 12

Police officers fired tear gas on Friday at citizens who were protesting against poor governance and insecurity in the country.

The demonstrators took to the streets of Abuja on Friday as Nigeria celebrated the 27th anniversary of uninterrupted democracy.

They called on the government to address economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and the rising cost of living.
