The Jigawa State Police Command has assured residents that sufficient security measures will be in place before, during, and after the upcoming Eid al‑Kabir celebrations throughout the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Haruna A. Yahaya, made the statement in a release issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.
According to the release, the command has positioned personnel and operational assets at key sites such as Eid prayer grounds, markets, highways, recreational centres, motor parks, and other public venues to guarantee a peaceful and incident‑free Sallah.
Officers from tactical and conventional units—including the Violent Crime Response Unit, patrol teams, intelligence operatives, traffic officers, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, Police Mobile Force personnel, and undercover operatives—have been mobilised across the state.
The command added that it has intensified intelligence gathering, confidence‑building patrols, stop‑and‑search operations, and surveillance in partnership with other security agencies and stakeholders to deter criminal activity during the festive period.
CP Yahaya instructed area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical commanders to remain vigilant, maintain visible policing, and respond promptly to distress calls within their jurisdictions.
He also urged residents to obey the law and cooperate with security agencies by providing information that could help prevent crime.
The police further advised parents and guardians to warn their children against reckless driving, dangerous horse riding, substance abuse, and other activities that could disrupt peace during the celebration.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and wished the Muslim faithful in the state a peaceful and memorable Eid al‑Kabir celebration.
