The Bauchi State Police Command has positioned officers at key sites in advance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16.
According to a statement released on Saturday by Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib, both covert and overt security teams have been assigned to designated venues and other sensitive locations throughout the state.
Commissioner of Police Sani‑Omolori Aliyu explained that the deployment is part of a broader security strategy aimed at ensuring the primaries are conducted peacefully, orderly, and without violence.
The statement also noted that all officers involved have received briefings emphasizing professionalism, neutrality, and strict discipline during the event.
Police cautioned politicians, supporters, and other stakeholders against any acts of violence, intimidation, or political thuggery, stating such behavior would not be tolerated.
They reaffirmed the command’s commitment to provide sufficient security before, during, and after the primaries, and warned that anyone found guilty of electoral offenses would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents were urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to security agencies through the proper channels.
