The Oyo State Police Command has refuted a viral video that claimed around 300 Lakurawa terrorists had entered the state.

The police described the clip as false, misleading, and deliberately intended to create fear and panic among residents.

In a statement released Sunday by State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command said that a thorough forensic investigation and intelligence verification proved the video’s allegations to be untrue.

“The Oyo State Police Command, following a comprehensive forensic analysis and intelligence-based verification, has confirmed that the viral video alleging the movement of about 300 Lakurawa terrorists into Oyo State is false, misleading, and deliberately crafted to cause fear, panic, and heightened tension among members of the public,” the statement read.

The police noted that forensic review of the video found the voice overlay, supposedly from Alhaji Muftau of Kontagora, matched earlier false information that the Command had already investigated and debunked.

Intelligence gathered from operatives stationed in border communities, supported by the Command’s enhanced early‑warning and response systems, found no evidence supporting the video’s claim.

The command also said that a joint verification with neighboring police formations confirmed the information was entirely unfounded.

It added that investigations established the video was neither recorded in Nigeria nor a recent occurrence.
