Police deny reports of school attacks in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has denied claims that schools in Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon‑Wuse, and Lambata were attacked by hoodlums, calling the allegations false and misleading.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, issued a statement on Wednesday stating that the Command had visited each of the schools mentioned in the reports and found no evidence of any incident in any of the affected areas.

The Command urged the public to ignore the information, noting that it was likely spread by individuals seeking to create panic and fear among residents and school communities.

According to the statement, intelligence investigations have begun to identify the source of the false reports and bring those responsible to justice.

Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, had earlier instructed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to strengthen collaboration with school administrators as part of ongoing school protection initiatives.

He also assured that police visibility patrols around schools would continue to safeguard students, staff, and surrounding communities.
