Abia State Police Command confirmed that two pupils were abducted last week by an unidentified tricycle operator while returning from school in Nsulu community, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) responsible for Isiala Ngwa North Area reported that the abduction had been brought to his attention.
DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, responded to a message from DAILY POST and stated that an investigation had begun.
The Police Spokesperson provided background, noting that the Isiala Ngwa Divisional Police report described the pupils, who were returning from school in the rain, being offered a lift by a tricycle (keke) operator.
She added that the operator stopped at a certain point, informed the pupils that he was out of fuel, and then sent the older pupils on an errand with one thousand Naira to purchase fuel.
“He brought out one thousand Naira and a Jerry Can and gave the elder ones the money to get fuel for him.”
“Having obtained the fuel and returned, they could not locate the tricycle operator or the two younger pupils left in the vehicle,” the PPRO said.
She confirmed that the case was under investigation.
Meanwhile, Barrah Chiedozie, Chairman of the Umuosu Development Association, also confirmed that the two young pupils from his community had been abducted.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the community leader said the abducted children had not been located.
