The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos has issued a ban on Point of Sale (PoS) transactions within its facilities.
Assistant Inspector‑General of Police (AIG) Simeon Akpanudom, who commands the FCID Annex Lagos, announced the directive on Thursday during a general lecture and strategic meeting with sectional heads at the command headquarters.
The announcement was confirmed in a statement from the FCID Annex spokesperson, ASP Aminat Mayegun, who said the order follows instructions from Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu.
Akpanudom explained that PoS activities inside police premises conflict with security standards and operational ethics, and that such practices could create opportunities for corruption and undermine official procedures.
He urged officers to uphold professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to due process while performing their duties.
The AIG also directed that all intelligence reports be thoroughly examined and verified by sectional heads before submission.
Supervisory officers were tasked with monitoring personnel effectively and enforcing compliance with professional standards to reduce misconduct within the command.
He cautioned officers against handling land‑related disputes indiscriminately, insisting that investigations follow established legal and investigative procedures.
The police chief warned against actions that could damage the image of the Nigeria Police Force, emphasizing the importance of projecting credibility and professionalism.
He advised personnel to respect the established chain of command and maintain discipline in carrying out their responsibilities.
Akpanudom reiterated that unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated and that offending officers would face disciplinary action where necessary.
He encouraged officers to remain committed to integrity, accountability and dedicated service to the nation.
