The Nasarawa State Police Command announced that two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of students from the Faculty of Engineering at Nasarawa State University, Gudi Campus, have been arrested, and confirmed that the victims have been safely released.

In a statement released Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel said the breakthrough resulted from “sustained intelligence‑led operations and coordinated tactical efforts” by Command operatives.

The suspects identified by police are Abdullahi Yeyi Haro, alleged leader of the kidnapping syndicate, and Basiru Abdullahi, both residents of the Gudi community in Nasarawa State.

The statement noted that the suspects were apprehended following a “diligent investigation and strategic operations aimed at dismantling the criminal network responsible for the abduction.”

The Command also confirmed that the abducted students have regained their freedom and have been reunited with their families.

“The abducted students have been safely released and reunited with their families. The victims are currently receiving medical care and necessary support following their ordeal,” the statement added.

Commenting on the development, Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed praised the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication.

He reiterated the Command’s resolve to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes throughout the state, assuring residents that efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate are ongoing.

“The Command remains determined to rid Nasarawa State of all forms of criminality, particularly kidnapping and other violent crimes,” the statement quoted the Commissioner.
