Police Arrest Woman Who Beaten and Battered Husband in Ondo

Police officers from the Ondo State Police Command have detained a middle‑aged woman on charges of assaulting her husband and causing serious injuries.

The suspect, Mary Olatunde, allegedly attacked her husband, Julius Olatunde, with a cutlass during a domestic dispute at their home on Igbatoro Road in Ilado, Akure, the state capital.

Neighbors reported the incident to the Gender‑Based Offences Unit (GBV Unit) of the Command, after which Mary was taken into custody.

Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that the victim sustained serious bodily injuries. He added that following the investigation, the suspect has been charged and is now facing prosecution.

Jimoh said: “The Ondo State Police Command views all forms of domestic violence as a serious threat to the safety, dignity and well‑being of individuals and remains committed to ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable regardless of gender, status or relationship with the victim.”

He further urged the public to report cases of domestic violence, abuse and other gender‑related offences promptly to the nearest police station or the Gender‑Based Offences Unit for immediate intervention and necessary legal action.
