Police arrest two suspects linked to failed Delta abduction

Police from “A” Division, working with a local vigilante group in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, arrested two men suspected of involvement in a failed kidnapping that took place on 19 June 2026.

The suspects, Iliyasu Hassan and Idris Abdulkarim, were taken into custody on 22 June 2026 at approximately 20:30 hrs.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Warri.

Edafe explained that the suspects were apprehended after leaving a nearby forest to buy food and medicine.

The Police Image Maker added that, after their arrest, a victim of a previous kidnapping incident identified the suspects as part of his attackers.

SP Edafe stated that the suspects are still in custody while investigations proceed.

He also noted that authorities are working to apprehend additional members of the gang and recover the weapons used in their operations.
