The Ogun State Police Command displayed three suspects yesterday who are believed to have killed former Ogun State Television (OGTV) employee Olakitan Oyesiku and her guard, Mr. Pelumu Adetayo.
The two victims were murdered at Oyesiku’s home in Agodo Town, Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area, on 20 June 2026.
Speaking to journalists at the police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni explained that the suspects had driven the victim’s vehicle—a Lexus RX 330—after the crime. The car was recovered during the investigation and helped identify the main suspect.
The suspects are Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22; Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard; and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.
Ojajuni said the arrests followed detailed forensic analysis of evidence collected at the scene, the recovered Lexus, and prior conversations between the principal suspect and the victim.
He added that the main suspect confessed to recruiting the other two for the murder, claiming it was to “teach her a lesson.”
The commissioner noted that the principal suspect had repeatedly asked the deceased for money, citing a low salary as a grievance.
“A handwritten note left by the perpetrators was a key piece of evidence. Forensic examination of the note produced investigative leads that helped identify and locate those responsible,” Ojajuni said.
Further intelligence and thorough investigation led to the arrest of Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip on 24 June 2026 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he worked as a labourer.
Subsequent operations by police detectives resulted in the capture of Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola and Sobu Obafunsho, completing the arrest of all suspects linked to the conspiracy.
During interrogation, Philip admitted his role in Oyesiku’s murder and revealed that he had recruited Ayoola and Obafunsho to participate.
According to his statement, the attack was planned after grievances that arose while he served as a security guard for the victim.
Philip said the murder was intended to “teach her a lesson.”
The suspects carried out the attack on 20 June 2026 in the afternoon. They first overpowered the guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38, using him to gain entry, then attacked Oyesiku and subsequently killed the guard.
The commissioner said the suspects will face court charges, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to delivering justice and holding all involved parties accountable.
