The Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) of the Abia State Police Command has detained a man who was filmed assaulting a woman in a video that went viral on social media.
The operation was led by Chief Superintendent of Police Emeka Amanchukwu, following reliable intelligence supplied to the unit.
A photograph of the suspect’s arrest was shared on Facebook on 20 June, showing the apprehension taking place in the Ogbor Hill area of Aba.

Police officials said the suspect was located and taken into custody shortly after the intelligence was received.
"The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue," a source added.
The VCRU reaffirmed its pledge to identify, arrest, and prosecute individuals who commit violent offences.
