Police in Lagos State have detained ten individuals connected to the violent episode that disrupted the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the Egbe area of Alimosho Local Government Area.

The disturbance took place on Saturday at Onilewura Street, along Liasu Road, where alleged hoodlums allegedly entered the election venue and fired intermittently, causing panic among party members and nearby residents.

The attack halted the electoral process, forcing voters, party officials and other participants to flee the scene for safety.

Several people were reported injured during the incident, and the suspects reportedly took advantage of the confusion to steal mobile phones and other valuables from attendees and residents.

Confirming the situation, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer ASP Femi Adeoye denied reports of any fatalities, stating that no lives were lost during the attack.

He added that the arrested suspects were taken into custody at Ikotun Divisional Police Station, where further investigations are underway.

During the operation, security officers also recovered a locally manufactured firearm from the suspects.

“The hoodlums responsible for the disturbance have been arrested and taken to Ikotun Divisional Police Station. A gun was also recovered from them,” he said.

Adeoye assured residents and APC supporters that the police would carry out a thorough investigation to identify those behind the attack and uncover the motive for the violence.

He added that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police spokesperson also urged residents to remain calm and to provide credible information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
