United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) head coach Mauricio Pochettino has distanced himself from the vacant AC Milan job, maintaining his focus on the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Recall that AC Milan parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri at the end of the season and overhauled their sporting staff after failing to qualify for the Champions League

However, according to Football Italia, Pochettino’s representatives held exploratory meetings with AC Milan as the Italian club looked for a high-profile replacement for Allegri.

When asked about the rumours, however, the Argentine simply responded: “No.”

“We always say we finish our contract in July after the World Cup,” he explained.

“Of course there are approaches, and of course I’ve met different people from different clubs. That is normal. My representatives work to find the best possibilities for the future.

“If a club came and said, ‘we want you but you need to start tomorrow,’ I would say no, I’m committed to the national team,” he added.

Pochettino has extensive experience nurturing young talents. During his time at Tottenham, he reached the UEFA Champions League final with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, and others. He is the leader who elevated the two stars to world-class status.

The coach was quick to point out that the links are not a distraction for him with the USMNT’s World Cup opener now just 11 days away.

“What I am going to tell you, I think it’s transparency,” he said. “We commit, commit with the national team, the U.S. men’s national team until we finish the World Cup and in these nearly two years.”
