Nigerian singer and songwriter Peter Okoye, better known as Mr P, has responded to criticism about his latest music release.

The artist, who was seen dancing in his new music video, received comments from some social‑media users urging him to retire, arguing that Afrobeats is meant for a younger generation.

In reply to the backlash, Mr P defended his singing, dancing, performing, multi‑instrumental skills and musical qualifications.

On his social‑media accounts he wrote, “Put some respect on the name Peter Okoye aka Mr P.”

He also said that many critics are disappointed PSQUARE fans who have not yet accepted the group’s split.

“Respect our decision and move on,” he added, noting that his solo career has been “one of the best things that has ever happened” to him.

The singer further revealed that he recently signed a multi‑million‑dollar five‑year deal with an international distribution company covering three albums.

“Nobody can stop this movement. The train has left the station. It’s Mr P Forever!” he concluded.
