Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has offered his condolences to the Nigerian military and police after a recent attack in Yobe State claimed the lives of security personnel.
The statement was posted on Obi’s official page.
In the message, Obi mourned the death of 17 police officers and an unspecified number of soldiers who were killed during an assault on a military school in Yobe State.
He called the incident a national tragedy, noting that the loss of security personnel continues to impact families and communities across the country.
“Every security personnel killed is a tragedy to our nation. Every fallen officer represents a family thrown into grief,” Obi said.
The former governor urged the Federal Government to provide compensation, support and long‑term welfare for the families of security personnel who died in the line of duty.
He also emphasized the need for urgent action to address insecurity nationwide, calling for a response marked by sincerity, professionalism and political will.
“To the families of the fallen heroes, I offer my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies,” the statement added.
