The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction that remains loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has denied reports that he has switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jungudo Mohammed, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, issued the clarification on Wednesday, calling Wike a valuable asset to the party.
The statement came after APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda publicly praised Wike’s leadership and expressed envy that the minister is not a member of the ruling party.
“The commendation from the ruling party only confirms the quality of leaders the opposition has produced over the years.”
“We have no intention of allowing Wike leave permanently, regardless of political pressure or offers from the APC. He is a valuable asset to the PDP,”
Daily Post reports that Wike remains a card‑carrying PDP member while serving as a minister in the APC‑led federal government.
