PDP confirms Lamido as sole candidate for Jigawa governorship in 2027.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed Mustapha Sule Lamido as its sole candidate for the Jigawa State governorship race in the 2027 general election.

Isah Ahmad, chairman of the party’s primary election committee, announced Lamido’s candidacy after the party reached a consensus. He said the decision aligns with the PDP’s constitution and legal provisions.

Ahmad noted that the affirmation took place in the presence of security agencies and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials. He praised state party members and leaders for maintaining unity.

In his acceptance speech, Lamido thanked party stakeholders for the chance to seek a second term. He pledged to implement programs focused on economic growth, youth empowerment, education reform, and improved healthcare if elected.

Lamido said his administration would prioritize rebuilding the state through policies centered on unity, social development, institutional reform, and responsible leadership.

He added that the vision he presented during the 2023 governorship campaign remains relevant, citing ongoing economic hardship and governance challenges.

“We are back in the race today because the problems and challenges bedeviling our dear state are still with us, like the unprecedented hardship, bad governance and insensitive leadership,” he said.

The PDP candidate expressed concern over declining educational standards, healthcare sector challenges, and increasing hardship among citizens.
