PDP Begins Screening Presidential and Governorship Candidates in 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun the screening of its presidential and governorship aspirants in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The process, overseen by the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, is being held at the party’s National Secretariat Annex in Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

According to a statement from National Director of Publicity Chinwe Nnorom, the screening for governorship candidates will start at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the presidential screening is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the same location.

The presidential screening committee is chaired by former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, with Hassan Sokodobo acting as Secretary.

Other members of the presidential committee include Alhaji Abba Isawa, Senator George Sekibo, Sodipo Semiu, Mrs. Chinelo Chidebelu, Nasiru Mohammed, Senator Zainab Kure, and Lindsey Sora.

The governorship screening committee is chaired by former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, with George Ariolu serving as Secretary.

Additional members of the governorship committee are Dr. Ibrahim Umar, Prof. Aisha Madawaki, Tajudeen Yusuf, Dr. Abdulganiyu Oloyin, Babangida Modibbo, Alhaji Buba Biri, Olaniyi Ogungbuji, Mike Ahumibe, Gabriel Igboko, Pastor Tony Effiong, and Mrs. Precious Ojelabi.
