Everton midfielder Toni Payne expressed great enthusiasm after scoring her first goal for the Super Falcons, according to the DAILY POST.
Payne netted Nigeria’s second goal in the 2‑1 friendly victory over Senegal on Friday night at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.
Asisat Oshoala had put Nigeria ahead from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute.
Just before the break, Payne doubled Justine Madugu’s side’s lead with a fine finish.
The 31‑year‑old was delighted to finally score for the African champions.
“I’m happy to score (for the Falcons) after almost five years so just really good to do it here in Nigeria,” she said following the match.
Payne, who previously represented the United States at youth level before switching international allegiance, has earned 46 caps for Nigeria.
