Paul Merson Forecasts Xabi Alonso's Role at Chelsea

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has said that Chelsea’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, will use the Europa Conference League to experiment and learn about his squad if the club qualifies for the competition next season.

Merson made the comments in a Sportskeeda column ahead of Chelsea’s final Premier League match against Sunderland on Sunday.

“The Conference League will give Xabi Alonso the chance to improvise stuff,” Merson wrote. “He can use that competition to find out more about his squad. For a new manager at a big club, that is an asset.”

Alonso was recently appointed as Chelsea’s manager and will take charge of the team after the current season ends.
