Jake Paul’s future in combat sports is uncertain after the YouTuber‑turned‑boxer revealed that the injury he sustained against Anthony Joshua last year has not yet healed.

In his December bout with the heavyweight champion, Paul took a significant risk.

The fight ended in a decisive knockout loss, leaving him with a shattered jaw.

He subsequently underwent corrective surgery and has spent an extended period away from competition.

Although he has returned to the gym, he is still unable to spar and is waiting for medical clearance as he aims to resume fighting before the close of 2026.

In a recent update, the “Problem Child” indicated that he might never receive clearance to fight again.

“I’m getting some new scans here in a couple of days of the jaw to get an update on the healing process,” he told Uncrowned via talkSPORT.

“We’ll see what my doctors say. I think I’ll be able to get a more accurate timeframe, or whether I can even fight again. That is definitely in the realm of possibilities.

“It does feel a lot better as weeks go by and time goes by. But I definitely need to get cleared first before I can spar, though I’m still staying in shape.

“I’m always in the gym pretty much regardless, just staying in shape and enjoying some mitt work.

“Most definitely, there’s a chance I can’t fight again. I think it just depends on how the bone heals. There’s also a tooth missing here that I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to replace with an implant.

“I don’t know how much time that’s going to add, but we just have to see and figure out what the smartest thing is for me.”
