The federal government has approved N32,880,443,906.25 for the second quarter of 2026 under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) disbursement memo, to support nationwide healthcare service implementation.
Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, announced the government's approval at the 5th Ministerial Oversight Committee (MOC) held in Abuja yesterday. He noted that the committee has already disbursed N290 billion under the initiative.
The meeting also approved modalities to include private sector actors in the MOC framework, thereby broadening stakeholder participation in health sector governance.
To reinforce state financing compliance, the Committee instructed the MOC Secretariat to send formal communications to all 36 states, reiterating their responsibilities for counterpart funding obligations and equity fund commitments.
