Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington earlier today to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as mediation efforts continue to resolve the crisis between the United States and Iran.
According to the Daily Post, Pakistan has largely led the mediation between the two countries during the conflict.
Dar reported that he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump over the weekend, describing the conversation as a significant step toward regional peace.
“The achievements of these negotiations offer grounds for optimism that a positive and durable outcome is within reach,” he said.
Recall that despite the initial optimism last weekend that an agreement might be close, the two sides have since traded strikes.
