The former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has stated that his Personal Assistant, Ajiboye Sangogade, had no involvement in the recent kidnapping of one of his sisters and her twins.
Adelabu issued the statement through his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, which was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.
According to DAILY POST, Mrs. Busayo Adegoke, one of the minister’s younger sisters, and her twins were abducted on the previous Wednesday.
The victims were later rescued by a joint team of security operatives on Saturday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Our correspondent reports that rumors emerged over the weekend alleging that Ajiboye had supplied information to the kidnappers.
Adelabu dismissed the rumors as false and baseless.
In his statement, the former minister urged those spreading the rumors to stop.
He reiterated that his PA had no role in the abduction.
Adelabu also said that the rumors were intended to distract him.
He added, “It has come to our notice that some individuals, who are enemies of progress and the development of Oyo State, are circulating rumors that the Personal Assistant to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Ajiboye Sangogade, orchestrated the kidnapping of Chief Adelabu’s sister and nephews in Ibadan.”
“We categorically reject this claim because it is entirely false and without any basis.”
