 Family of beheaded teacher writes Tinubu, demands recovery of body

The family of the kidnapped and beheaded teacher, the late Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade of Community High School, Ohoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, sent a letter to President Bola Tinubu on Monday demanding the recovery of his body for a proper burial.

The request was made through the family’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who wrote and signed the letter on their behalf.

The letter, dated 25 May 2026 and titled “Request for the urgent intervention in the tragic kidnapping, brutal murder and beheading of the late Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade, One of the Abducted Teachers of Community High School, Ohoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State,” states:

“We write to formally bring to the attention of His Excellency the tragic kidnapping, brutal murder and beheading of the late Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade, one of the abducted teachers of Community High School, Ohoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, by suspected terrorists on the 15th day of May 2026.”

“It is our clients’ information that late Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade was a peaceful and diligent teacher at Community High School, Ohoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, whose life was cruelly and violently cut short under heartbreaking and inhuman circumstances. He is also survived by his wife and two sons, who have been left traumatized by the gruesome manner of his death.”

“Despite widespread national attention regarding the death of the late Mr. Oyedokun Michael Olugbade, his remains have yet to be seen or recovered. In these distressing circumstances, we respectfully appeal for Your Excellency’s urgent intervention to direct the relevant security and intelligence agencies toward locating and recovering his body, so that his family may be afforded the solemn opportunity to conduct a dignified burial and rescue other victims still in captivity.”

The letter also urged the President to treat the request with utmost urgency, emphasizing that the late teacher was in active service before the incident and that those responsible for the crime should be brought to justice.
