Oyo Government Extends Curfew for an Additional 24 Hours

The Oyo State Government has extended the curfew that was imposed on ten local government areas along the Old Oyo National Park by an additional 24 hours.

The extension was announced in a memo issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

Daily Post reports that the state government first announced a curfew from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the affected areas on June 23, 2026.

Originally scheduled to last 48 hours, the curfew will now remain in effect until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The local government areas affected include Oriire Local Government Area, whose headquarters is in Ikoyi‑Ile; Orelope Local Government Area, headquartered in Igboho; Irepo Local Government Area, headquartered in Kisi; Saki West Local Government Area, headquartered in Saki; Saki East Local Government Area, headquartered in Ago‑Amodu; Atisbo Local Government Area, with headquarters in Tede/Ago‑Are; and Itesiwaju Local Government Area, headquartered in Otu.

Other affected areas are Iseyin Local Government Area, headquartered in Iseyin; Olorunsogo Local Government Area, headquartered in Igbeti; and Atiba Local Government Area, whose headquarters is in Offa‑Meta, Oyo.
