Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebani praised President Bola Tinubu for easing governance across Nigeria’s 36 states by increasing resource allocations to subnational governments.
Governor Oyebani stated that he feels indebted to President Tinubu for simplifying governance not only for himself but for fellow governors.
During an interactive session with journalists in Ado‑Ekiti, Oyebani recounted how his administration struggled for nearly six months to meet the state’s wage bill and capital projects before President Tinubu took office.
He added that President Tinubu’s interventionist programmes increased resources for all states, including Ekiti, allowing his administration to carry out its shared‑prosperity agenda smoothly.
The session, attended by media leaders and journalists from print, electronic and digital outlets, saw Oyebani explain that construction on three federal roads linking the state has relieved public pressure for road repairs.
He noted that the cost of the newly approved concrete pavement on the Ado‑Itawure road exceeds the state’s 2023 budget, and that without presidential intervention, the state could not have started the project.
“I became Governor six months before the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president. In those six months, I had sleepless nights thinking about how to meet the wage bill and also implement the shared prosperity agenda. We have completed the airport now. Our focus is on roads. Thanks to the President, Ado‑Akure road is almost done. He has also awarded Ado‑Itawure road. The value of that contract is bigger than our budget for two years. If not for the president that cares, there is no way we could have done those roads,” he said.
Oyebani said the higher federal allocation allowed his administration to triple the subvention to the state’s tertiary institutions and satisfy labour demands, promoting industrial harmony.
He added that since taking office in 2022, his government has disbursed more than 85 billion naira in gratuities and pensions.
Oyebani claimed that the Ekiti electorate’s support for his administration stems largely from its strong performance, which he attributes to President Tinubu’s leadership.
He thanked the state’s media for their professionalism, informing the public and holding the government accountable.
Oyebani urged Ekiti residents to back President Tinubu’s re‑election, arguing that the president is steering Nigeria toward greatness and deserves the support of the populace.
“The president deserves commendations. It is not possible to make omelette without breaking eggs. The progress and stability that he has brought to the economy and everything, it takes someone who has courage and confidence to do it. He is trying to fix things that have gone wrong in the last 30 years. If someone is sick and you give him an injection, does he get well instantly? Mr President deserves
