Osun State Police Command has confirmed that it will provide adequate security for the 2026 Eid‑El‑Kabir celebrations throughout the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Osogbo, DSP Ojelabi Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, said that Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Gotan had ordered all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful and incident‑free event.
Gotan explained that the command had positioned personnel and operational resources at key locations across Osun to protect lives and property during the festive period.
He added, “security operatives have been stationed at entry and exit points, major highways, places of worship, recreation centres, parks and other critical infrastructure.”
The commissioner said the deployment was intended to strengthen confidence‑building measures and deter criminal activity before, during, and after the celebrations.
He urged residents to behave peacefully and in accordance with the law throughout the Sallah festivities. “All citizens of Osun State are therefore enjoined to comport themselves in accordance with the extant laws and go about their celebrations without hindrances,” the statement read.
Gotan also appealed to the public to cooperate with officers on duty, noting that personnel had been instructed to remain professional, civil, and respectful of citizens’ fundamental rights.
The command advised residents to report suspicious activity or emergencies through the police emergency lines or at the nearest police station for a prompt response.
