Osimhen: Galatasaray’s ambitious Real Madrid move aims to keep the Nigerian striker satisfied

Galatasaray are pushing forward with an aggressive summer overhaul as the Turkish champions seek to persuade Victor Osimhen to stay for another UEFA Champions League campaign, according to Afrik-Foot.

The Istanbul giants are making a bold statement with a string of high‑profile signings after securing a fourth consecutive Super Lig title under coach Okan Buruk.

Last season, Galatasaray shocked European football by completing a permanent €75 million transfer for Osimhen, who had impressed during a loan spell from SSC Napoli. The Nigerian striker became the face of the club’s continental push and helped turn Galatasaray into one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking sides.

The club also strengthened its ranks with the arrivals of Leroy Sané, İlkay Gündoğan, defender Wilfried Singo and goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır in multimillion‑euro deals. These players played key roles as Galatasaray advanced impressively in the Champions League and lifted the Turkish Super Lig for a fourth straight year.

However, the club’s latest target may be its most ambitious yet.

Reports in Turkey say Galatasaray have identified Eduardo Camavinga as a priority midfield target as they aim to build a squad capable of reaching the latter stages of the Champions League alongside Osimhen.

The 23‑year‑old Real Madrid midfielder has emerged as one of Europe’s most versatile young players since joining from Stade Rennais in 2021. Uncertainty about his role at Santiago Bernabéu after recent managerial changes has reportedly opened the door to interest from abroad.

French and Spanish media have suggested that Camavinga might consider his future if regular starts become difficult next season. Galatasaray officials are believed to have monitored the situation closely for several weeks and have already accelerated contact with the player’s representatives.

Coach Buruk is said to be a major admirer of the France international and views him as the ideal midfield engine to support Osimhen in Europe. Galatasaray’s preferred approach would reportedly involve an initial loan with an option to buy, given the enormous financial demands of a permanent transfer.

While the operation remains challenging, the Turkish champions believe their recent European progress and ambitious recruitment drive could strengthen their position.

Last season, Galatasaray reached the Champions League Round of 16 for the first time in 12 years, with Osimhen playing a decisive role throughout the competition. The Nigerian striker scored seven goals and registered three assists in 10 Champions League matches, including crucial performances against Liverpool, Juventus and AFC Ajax.

Osimhen’s performances not only raised Galatasaray’s profile across Europe but also generated substantial UEFA revenue for the club, further encouraging the board to invest heavily ahead of another continental campaign.

With Champions League football returning to Rams Park next season, Galatasaray are now trying to surround the Nigerian forward with enough elite talent to turn their European dream into a genuine reality.
