Presidential aspirant Stanley Osifo, running on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, said that Bola Tinubu has pledged to work with him if he defeats the incumbent president in the party’s primary election.
Osifo is the sole candidate contesting the APC ticket against President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Arise News, Osifo stressed that there is no intra‑party conflict and that he would be ready to collaborate with Tinubu should he lose the primary.
He added that the primary election day will determine his chances against Tinubu, noting that incumbency does not guarantee success.
“For chances I can’t really state or detect now, I think the day of the election will really tell the extent or the level of chance I have against him,” he said.
“Being an incumbent is not a guarantee that the election is going to go his way or my way, but one thing that is important is that we are one party and we are not fighting ourselves.”
“We are members of the All Progressives Congress, so if I defeat him at the end of the day, I think he also has to work with me.”
“And if he wins the same thing, I will work with him and support him. So we’re not fighting in the All Progressives Congress, it is one party, and I strongly believe that we have an understanding amongst ourselves as APC members.”
