Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole has stated that President Bola Tinubu never promised to perform magic in addressing Nigeria’s insecurity.
Oshiomhole argued that the current surge in insecurity did not begin under Tinubu’s administration.
During an interview on Mic On Podcast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader challenged critics to prove that Tinubu is not doing enough to tackle the country’s security problems.
He said, “Did security or insecurity start under this government? Can you point to the Bible and say that President Bola Tinubu is not doing enough on security? He’s doing enough.”
“He promised to keep Nigerians safe; he didn’t say he would perform magic. As Commander‑In‑Chief he has the ability to do so. You must not make statements that suggest those officers and men, commanders who have been killed in various parts of the country—particularly in the Northeast, Maiduguri—defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria and safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians, are not doing something?”
Recently, Nigerians have witnessed a rise in insecurity.
Some students and teachers were kidnapped in Oyo State, and retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Nigerian Army spokesman and Director of Defence Information, was kidnapped in Katsina State and died in captivity.
