Senator Adams Oshiomhole has claimed that the security crisis plaguing the country began during the tenure of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking on The Mic On Podcast on Sunday, Oshiomhole criticized Atiku, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, for his remarks about President Bola Tinubu.
Oshiomhole argued that Atiku and other candidates who oppose Tinubu’s re‑election have no distinct strategy to address the ongoing security problem.
According to the lawmaker, the incidents highlighted by the ADC candidate will not resolve the decade‑long crisis.
He said, “The last thing I heard from Atiku was that he would have visited Plateau or Benue. Is paying a condolence visit all that we need to change the security issues?”
“They said, ‘oh Tinubu is not sensitive, giving the mood of the nation, he said so and traveling to so and so… Do you believe that this is at the heart of insecurity?’ Insecurity started under Vice President Atiku Abubakar.”
Atiku served as Vice President in former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.
