Oriyomi Hamzat, a well‑known broadcaster from Ibadan, the founder of Agidigbo FM, and a candidate for the Accord Party’s governorship ticket, claims that there are intentions to place hard drugs on his station’s premises and to implicate him in criminal conduct, supposedly to justify shutting down or demolishing the station.
He voiced these accusations in a video that has since gone viral on social media, alleging that unnamed actors were coordinating efforts to implicate him and threaten Agidigbo FM’s operations.
Hamzat said that recent events in Oyo State compelled him to warn the public about what he characterises as a continuing intimidation campaign targeting him and his organisation.
He claimed that some people were dispatched to the station posing as complainants or seeking the station’s intervention, with the goal of covertly planting illicit substances on the property.
“Some arrests and demolitions are already ongoing in Oyo State. I heard they wanted to plant hard drugs inside Agidigbo and pretend they brought an issue to the station.”
“We saw the people sent yesterday to carry out the plan, and we are still expecting others they intended to send,” Hamzat said.
Hamzat also alleged that a second scheme was in motion to recruit people, dress them in yellow clothing—typical of the Accord Party—and portray them as his supporters after they had supposedly carried out criminal acts.
“They also planned to dress some people in yellow clothes and claim they are my supporters after using them to commit crimes. The intention is to tarnish my image and create grounds for action against me,” he alleged.
Hamzat did not name the individuals he suspected of orchestrating the alleged plots, nor did he present evidence to support his assertions.
The claims have sparked responses on social media, with supporters and observers urging vigilance and requesting that the appropriate authorities investigate the allegations.
