The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has stated that its organised, non-violent advocacy is shaping self determination discourse in Nigeria.
The group made the observation while appraising it’s ‘Tweet Tuesday’ campaign.
It will be recalled that the organization recently reintroduced the campaign which focuses on online engagement as a tool for advancing its self determination agenda, as well as discourse on other critical issues, including constitutional rights, judicial proceedings and the rule of law in Nigeria.
IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, had on Monday, July 6, 2026, circulated an internal memorandum directing members, coordinators, supporters and sympathizers worldwide to participate in coordinated online advocacy every Tuesday.
According to the memorandum, the campaign seeks to promote the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, advocate for the Biafra self-determination movement, and encourage members to respond to narratives they consider inaccurate. The initiative was described as a revival of the ‘Tweet Tuesday’ campaign originally introduced by Kanu.
The group noted that the ‘Tweet Tuesday’ coincided with its coordinated online mobilization campaign and reflected substantial public participation in discussions surrounding Kanu’s ongoing legal proceedings and the broader Biafra question.
“Regardless of differing political views, the day’s online activity demonstrates the continuing influence of organized, non-violent digital advocacy in shaping public conversation on issues relating to constitutional rights, judicial proceedings, self-determination, and the rule of law in Nigeria.
“As legal proceedings continue, sustained public engagement grounded in factual information and respectful discourse remains essential to ensuring these issues remain part of the national conversation,” IPOB added.
