Troops of the Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, have arrested two suspects allegedly linked to the recent attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to a statement by the spokesperson for the security outfit, Captain Polycarp Oteh, the suspects were apprehended at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th, at the Trade Center axis of Kuru during an intelligence-led operation by the troops of Sector 6 of OPEP.
Oteh stated that one of the suspects, identified only as Aboi, was first arrested, and that, following intense interrogation, he led the operatives to the second suspect.
He added that the suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated to aid security agencies in identifying and arresting other fleeing members of the criminal network.
“The suspects are being exploited for further intelligence that could lead to the arrest of other members of the group involved in the attack,” the statement said.
The arrests of the suspects followed a series of attacks on the NIPSS facility, leading to the killing of about four people, including security operatives, in the process.
The last attack was on July 2, but the attackers were successfully repelled by soldiers who killed one of the invaders, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Troops also recovered a service rifle with the registration number CO-3175, with investigations later revealing that the weapon had been stolen from a soldier who was killed during an earlier attack on the Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Vom, on April 11, 2026.
