A Benue Links passenger bus crashed into a stream on Ogiladzi‑Abakwa Road in Adi‑Etulo, Benue State, killing one woman.
The accident happened Friday evening between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Ofyanghan, a community along the Adi‑Etulo axis, according to residents and travellers familiar with the area.
Witnesses say the bus was heading toward Jato‑Aka when it veered off the road and plunged into a nearby stream. The exact cause of the crash remains unknown.
Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene and helped pull passengers from the submerged vehicle. Despite these efforts, a female passenger did not survive.
At the time of writing, officials had not released the total number of passengers on board, the identity of the deceased, or any details that might explain why the accident occurred.
Neither emergency services nor relevant government authorities had issued an official statement about the incident as of press time.
