One Arrested After Hoodlums Kill Nursing Student in Imo

OWERRI – A student of the College of Nursing in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, was found dead in her apartment on the school premises. The victim, identified as Wendy Achumba, was a native of Ngwa in Abia State. She had completed her Midwifery program at the college and was still enrolled in the Post Basic course.

According to school officials, the lifeless body was discovered in the student’s private off‑campus apartment. Police Public Relations Officer Henry Okoye released a statement saying that one suspect has been arrested for preliminary questioning. The police are continuing a manhunt for other members of the alleged gang.

Okoye added that the command was aware of the tragic incident and that officers had promptly visited the scene for an on‑the‑spot assessment. The body was recovered and taken to the morgue while investigators began probing the circumstances of the death and identifying those responsible. He urged students and the public to remain calm, assuring that the situation was under control and that all efforts were being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
