Dr. Wole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, has rejected the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), claiming the process was marred by irregularities.

Through his campaign organization, Oluyede said the announced result failed to reflect the genuine will and democratic aspirations of Ekiti State residents.

In a statement released on Monday by Chief Sanya Atofarati, Director of Media and Communications for the Oluyede Campaign Organization, the candidate alleged that the election was marked by vote buying, voter intimidation, harassment of opposition supporters, and other practices that eroded the poll’s credibility.

The campaign also claimed that certain security operatives did not remain neutral, asserting that their conduct and omissions fostered an environment of fear, intimidation, and unfairness in parts of the state.

Oluyede argued that the election’s circumstances indicated a predetermined outcome, effectively denying Ekiti voters the chance to choose their leaders freely.

He urged his supporters and party members to stay calm, peaceful, and law‑abiding, assuring them that he would seek justice through all lawful and democratic avenues.

Oluyede also appealed to INEC, security agencies, and other stakeholders to uphold fairness, justice, and accountability so as to safeguard the nation’s democracy.
