Ogun Police Station Deploys 2,500 Officers for Ojude Oba Festival

The Ogun Police Command has deployed more than 2,500 officers and specialised operational assets to ensure security and a peaceful celebration during the 2026 Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu‑Ode.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni announced the deployment in a statement released on Thursday in Abeokuta by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.

Ojajuni said the move was part of proactive security measures designed to protect the public and guarantee a smooth festival.

The force includes regular police officers and tactical teams from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), and other specialised units.

Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), patrol vehicles, police motorcycles, surveillance teams, undercover operatives, and rapid‑response squads have also been positioned strategically across Ijebu‑Ode and surrounding communities.

Security teams will be stationed at the Ojude Oba pavilion, major highways, entry and exit points, hotels, worship centres, recreational centres, motor parks, markets, residential areas, and other public locations.

The operation aims to provide effective crowd control, intelligence‑led policing, traffic management, anti‑crime patrols, visibility policing, early threat detection, and rapid response to security incidents.

All area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical commanders have been instructed to remain on maximum alert, maintain aggressive patrols, and conduct strategic stop‑and‑search operations.

Special attention has been given to key routes such as the Sagamu Interchange, Ijebu Ode‑Benin motorway, Molipa axis, and neighbouring communities to deter criminal activity and traffic obstruction.

Commissioner Ojajuni urged officers to act professionally, courteously, and respect the rights of law‑abiding citizens while carrying out their duties.

The command has strengthened collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, transport unions, event organisers, and other stakeholders to improve intelligence gathering and ensure seamless security coordination during the festival.

He warned criminal elements and troublemakers to stay away from the state, emphasising the command’s readiness to confront anyone who attempts to disrupt public peace during the celebration.

Ojajuni appealed to residents, visitors, and festival participants to remain law‑abiding, vigilant, and security‑conscious throughout the event.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing, public safety, and the protection of lives and property across Ogun State. (NAN)
