Ogun Police Arrest Security Guard Accused of Stealing Company Spare Parts

ABEOKUTA — Ogun State Police Command officers have detained 32‑year‑old security guard Friday Ayuba on allegations that he stole motor spare parts from his employer’s premises in Ita‑Asu village, located along Owode‑Egba in Ogun State.

The arrest followed a complaint filed with the Owode‑Egba Police Division on Friday, 30 May 2026, by the company’s manager.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Ayuba was first intercepted by the Quick Response Squad (QRS) at the Sagamu Interchange on the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway while allegedly trying to transport company property without permission.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ayuba, who worked as a security guard for the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts that had been taken from the company’s premises without authorization.

The recovered items included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats and two fuel pumps, all of which the company identified as its property.

Babaseyi added that Ayuba reportedly confessed to the theft during interrogation.

“During the course of the investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the theft. Detectives promptly visited the scene for further investigation and documentation, while the recovered items were secured as exhibits,” Babaseyi said.

He noted that Ayuba remains in police custody, that the investigation is ongoing, and that he will be charged in court once the process is complete.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the company’s management for its vigilance and the Quick Response Squad and Owode‑Egba Division officers for their swift action in arresting the suspect and recovering the stolen items.

Ojajuni said the operation’s success highlights the importance of cooperation between security agencies, businesses and the public in combating crime.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives, property and business assets across the state through intelligence‑led policing and proactive crime‑prevention strategies.

The Commissioner also urged employers and residents to stay alert and to report suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police station.
